The District must make one decision that is in the best interest for all students of the district. We understand that this decision may not fit with your individual circumstances. Therefore, we strongly encourage you in making an alternate plan for your child in case school is closed for inclement weather or for other reasons.

Closing Due to Inclement Weather:
District staff members begin reviewing the weather conditions very early in the morning. We may consult with the Great Lakes Weather Service, County Highway Department, City Streets Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Dept., WI State Patrol, the National Weather Service and other officials to help us determine if we can safely transport all students to school and ensure that all buildings are cleared of snow and ice and accessible to students and staff. Our goal is to make the decision to close schools by 5:45 a.m. We then communicate this decision to all local news outlets and to parents and staff through our School Messenger system, via text, email or telephone calls, depending upon what information parents have shared with the District, and by posting the announcement on our website at www.brf.org.

  • The following local radio or television stations will also provide information about a school closing or delay:
    • Radio Station:
    • Television Stations:
    • WWIS 99.7 FM
    • WKBT (8), WEAU (13), WQOW (18), and WXOW (19)
  • When schools are closed, all activities scheduled in school buildings for that day are canceled. This includes all after school programs.
  • If there is a two-hour late start, all early childhood and 4K a.m. sessions will be canceled. However, early childhood and 4K p.m. classes will run.
